The Chiefs and people of Nogokpo in the Ketu South Municipality have given the founder of Perez Chapel International, Archbishop Charles Agyinasare 14 days to appear before the traditional leaders.

This comes after a video of him categorising the town as the headquarters of demons in the Volta Region went viral on social media.

Earlier, the General Overseer said he had no intention to cast a slur on certain groups of people or their communities and had described “any misrepresentation or misinformation that has characterised the subsequent commentary and reportage” as unfortunate.

But the Chiefs insist that failure on the part of the man of God to appear before them would compel them to take another step of action.

According to them, the Archbishop must do the right thing after tarnishing the image of the town.

At a press conference held in Nogokpo and read by Nufialaga, Mawufemor Nornyigbey noted that having listened to the second trending statement the Bishop made on Sunday, 28th May, 2023 he did not show any remorse, an indication that he deliberately decided to tarnish the good reputation of the people of Nogokpo.

Nufialaga Mawufemor Kobla Nornyigbey noted that, per the understanding, he explicitly meant Nogokpo is the headquarters of all wild, cruel and evil people in the Volta Region.

He noted that based on evidence, the 1st President of Ghana, Dr Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah visited Nogokpo and sought divine assistance from the thunder deity, Torgbui Zakadza.

“That for evidence based testimony, we want to make it known to the general public that when Osagyefo Dr  Kwame Nkrumah, the 1st President, of Ghana, explored all avenues to gain independence for Ghana but couldn’t succeed, he finally visited Nogokpo and sought divine assistance from the thunder deity ,Torgbui Zakadza”  Mr Mawufemor Nornyigbey said.

He noted that the people of Nogokpo are very peaceful, tolerant and have been demonstrating a higher level of decorum and love to the neighbouring tribes, devoid of their negative tribal sentiments.

Mr Mawufemor Nornyigbey also noted that though Agyinasare’s comment is too irritating and condemnable enough to result in a direct confrontation, they still remain agents of peace.

” His message that day was just calculated damage mechanism of the usual religious intolerance to weaken African Traditional Religion in the face of the congregation ” Mr Nornyigbey said.

Archbishop Charles Agyin-Asare, on the third day of a Summit held recently at the headquarters of Perez Chapel in Accra, preached about divine protection and the existence of evil forces.

The lives of pupils and teachers of Nandi Krom D/A school in the Krachi Nchurumu District in the Oti Region are in danger due to the deplorable state of their school structure.

The pupils are compelled to learn on stones and blocks due to lack of infrastructure to promote quality education.

During a visit to the school, Adom News observed that pupils were found learning under the mercy of the weather.

The tree shade served as classrooms for the school children and education activities came to an end whenever it rained.

Speaking to Adom News, some pupils expressed hope of becoming good leaders and officers, however, their ambitions could be shattered due to the situation, if their plight is not addressed.

The Headmistress and some of the teachers also lamented that the current situation was affecting teaching and learning as a number of pupils had dropped out due to the state of the school.

The Effutu Traditional Council has called on authorities at the University of Education, Winneba, to smoke the peace pipe and ensure a smooth running of the institution.

This follows an order by a Winneba High Court for the reinstatement of some suspended officials of the University.

In a statement signed by the President of the Traditional Council, Neenyi Ghartey VII, the Council said it has taken note of the Court’s ruling on the longstanding impasse that has stained the reputation of the University.

According to the them, due to the prolonged conflict, Management of the University must take steps to end any dispute among the staff.

“The Effutu Traditional Council has been informed of the decision of the Winneba High Court in respect of reinstating some officers of the University. The fact that Council is being directed by the Court to ensure compliance, the Traditional Council looks forward to Council’s expeditious action in respect of the order without further litigation.

“In view of past turbulences which affected the image of the school and by extension Winneba, we also entreat Council to put in measures that will ensure a manifest reconciliation for peace to reign without further rancour,” portions of the statement read.

It will be recalled that in 2017, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Mawutor Avoke was instructed to vacate his post until a case against him and the University Council by Supi Kofi Kwayera has been determined.

The plaintiff alleged financial and procurement irregularities on the part of Prof. Avoke. He also claimed that the University Council’s mandate expired in 2013; however, the Education Ministry failed to constitute a new Governing Council.

Based on these concerns, the University interdicted Prof. Avoke and four others after it emerged that some vital documents at some offices at the centre of an ongoing investigation had disappeared. The decision by the University’s Governing Council was described by many as politically motivated.

Later on, a Fact-finding Committee that was set up to look into the matter suggested the dismissal of the named University officers in August, 2018. The Governing Council of the University then appointed Rev. Fr. Professor Anthony Afful-Broni as the substantive Vice-Chancellor for a limited period of three years.

However, on February 2, 2022, the Winneba High Court ordered the University to reinstate Prof Mawutor Avoke as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Institution. The Court presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh also charged the University to reinstate the other four principal officers who were “unlawfully” dismissed to their former grade.

The four are the Finance Officer, Dr Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie, Daniel Tetteh, Mary Dzimey and Frank Owusu Boateng. It also ruled that their salary arrears must be paid from the date they were removed from their respective positions.

Following this development, President of the Effutu Traditional Council, Neenyi Ghartey VII, in his statement expressed his well wishes to the Vice Chancellor and urged him “to be a father of all in spite of all that has happened in the past.”

A Policewoman has been crushed to death while on duty at the Gomoa Potsin checkpoint in the Central Region.

The deceased, identified as Comfort Freby, was stationed at the Gomoa Dominase Police Command and got married barely a year ago.

Police sources indicate the incident occurred at about 3:00 am on Wednesday while she was with other colleagues.

The suspect driver was reportedly driving a Toyota Fish passenger car with a registration number GS 4746-20 on top speed.

The driver, who was travelling from Accra to Cape Coast, is said to have driven through a first checkpoint despite attempts by the patrol team to stop him.

A signal, according to information gathered by Adom News‘ Kofi Adjei, was then sent to the deceased and her colleagues who were at the checkpoint ahead to be on the lookout for the driver.

However, he repeated his act and is said to have almost crashed the entire team to death but they narrowly escaped him.

Unfortunately, the vehicle veered towards where the policewoman was and killed her on the spot.

Meanwhile, the suspect driver is in police custody assisting investigations while the police have visited the bereaved family to commiserate with them.

A total of 386 suspected criminals have so far been arrested for various security infractions in the ongoing joint military operations in the Upper West, Upper East, Northern, North-East, and the Savannah Regions.

The number comprised 279 Ghanaians and 107 foreign nationals including Burkinabes, Malians, Togolese, Nigerians, and Nigeriens.

Brigadier General Emmanuel Okyere, the National Security Advisor, who disclosed this in a media briefing in Wa, said the multinational joint operation dubbed: ‘Operation Koudolgou’ was the fourth in the series since the Accra Initiative in 2017.

He noted that the main objective of the operation was to fight terrorism and transnational organised crimes within their common border to free it from both illegal and criminal activities within defined areas of operation.

READ ALSO:

Brigadier General Okyere said the operation took place in all five regions of northern Ghana and in the same areas of neighbouring Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Togo.

He noted that due to the operation, there had been increased presence of security forces in the northern enclave, adding that these security activities were part of the planned programmes of the Accra initiative, which encompasses Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Togo.

“We are all aware of the terrorists’ activities in the sun regions and as the adage goes, ‘when you see that there is a fire in your neighbour’s house, you don’t wait for the fire to engulf you, but you fetch water and put it down in case the fire gets to you, you use it to quench the fire’,” he said.

The National Security Advisor said they were not waiting for any fire to get to them, but rather, they were doing whatever possible to prevent that fire from starting.

“So, all we are doing year in year out for this particular region is to prevent any terrorist attack on our land and this is a shared responsibility,” Brigadier General Okyere said.

He said they were providing a number of boreholes to about seven communities in the operational area as a social responsibility.

Brigadier General Okyere clarified that the operation was not targeted at any group of people but rather targeted at a network of criminals, adding that all their operations have been professional and intelligence-led.

The Asamankese Circuit Court has sentenced a 36-year-old farmer, Majid Seidu, to seven years imprisonment for defiling a 15-year-old girl at Oda Nkwanta.

His Honour, Abass Abubakari Adams, in his ruling said the convict will serve his jail term in hard labour.

The prosecuting officer, Detective Inspector George Oteng-Appau, said the complainant, Janet Abrokwa, is a resident of Oda Nkwanta and mother of the victim, whilst the accused is also a farmer in the same town.

He said about two weeks ago, the complainant observed that the victim was not in good condition so she inquired from the victim but she refused to tell the truth until October 24, where the victim informed her friend that she has been sexually harassed by Mr Seidu.

The friend of the victim informed the victim’s mother about the incident and upon interrogation by the complainant, the victim confirmed that he had defiled her on several occasions.

She said the convict warned her not to inform anyone after promising to give her money for trading and marry her when she grows up.

The complainant later reported the case to the Akyem Oda Police where the victim was given a medical form for examination at Oda Government Hospital.

On October 27, the police received a medical report endorsed by Dr Asuru Fouad at the Oda Government Hospital which said “on examination, she looked well but on vaginal examination, her hymen was breached indicative of penetrative sexual activity.”

The report further indicated that “urine pregnancy test, syphilis, hepatitis B and HIV test were all negative.”

Later, the accused was arrested and interrogated where he confirmed that he has been dating the 15-year-old girl for the past three months and had had sex with her only three times.

A new mum who peaked the scales at 21st lost seven stone after ditching her £800-a-month fast-food diet when doctors warned she might not live to see her daughter grow up.

Lillie Monro, 24, always struggled with her weight and would often have a takeaway burger for breakfast, as well as fast food for lunch and dinner.

Now, she’s swapped the burgers for salads, and as well as seeing her weight plummet, her finances also look healthier.

At her heaviest, her poor diet saw her reach 21st just before daughter Mila, two, was born, and a doctor warned the new mum she might not see her baby grow up.

Weighing 19st 1lb, and with her newborn baby in her arms, she pledged to change, and shrank 7st in a year, going from a size 22-24 to a 10-12.

She now weighs a healthy 12st.

Lillie Monro after her weight loss with her daughter Mila

The mum no longer spends £150-200 a week on fast food, meaning her food bills have halved, and she can climb the stairs without getting out of breath.

Lillie, an MOT, service and repairs adviser from Halstead, Essex said: “I literally lost a whole person worth of weight. My GP told me I wouldn’t see my daughter grow up so I knew I had to make rapid changes.

“I don’t think I’d have been able to do it if she hadn’t said that and I didn’t have Mila.

“I really enjoy just playing with her now: I wasn’t able to do that before.

“I didn’t do any exercise, just Slimming World. I actually really enjoyed it. I could still eat really big portions.

“I just changed the amounts of different foods so I was eating more of the right things and less of others, and cooked from scratch.

“At first I thought of it as a diet, but actually it’s a lifestyle change and that’s why it’s still working.”

As a 17st teen, Lillie said she didn’t like to go shopping with her friends, and first went to Slimming World aged 12 or 13.

She tried other diets too, but always found she put the weight back on afterwards, she said.

Lillie weighed 21st just before little Mila, now two, was born in February 2019, and 19st 1 shortly after.

The new mum was so uncomfortable about her weight she wouldn’t go out to the shops, or with her friends, and wouldn’t eat meals out, she said.

She went to her GP and was given medication for depression and anxiety, when Mila was three months old, in May 2019.

The female doctor told the mum her weight put her at risk of diabetes, heart failure, and other health risks, and she might not see her baby grow up, she said.

New-mum Lillie had feared losing little Mila when she was taken into neonatal intensive care with suspected sepsis just hours after being born, she said.

“You don’t expect your doctor to tell you you’re going to pop your clogs, but I’m so glad she did,” said Lillie.

“That was my wake-up call.https://get-latest.convrse.media/?

“When she said it, it reminded me of that fear of loss when Mila was in intensive care: it was so awful, really dreadful.

“I went home from the GP and cried my eyes out then decided to make changes.”

Lead counsel for 28-year-old Josephine Simons, who allegedly faked her kidnap and pregnancy, has said her client may spend not more than six months in jail if she is found guilty by the court.

“The charge against my client is a misdemeanour and it means that if she is found guilty and going to be sentenced, it will not be more than 6 months,” he told journalists after the court sitting on Monday.

Fiifi Buckman’s comment comes after she was granted bail by the Takoradi Habour Circuit Court.

Making her first appearance, following her alleged confession on Friday that gained the entire nation’s interest, the 28-year-old was admitted to a bail of GHC50,000 with sureties.

Charged with deceiving a public officer and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic, she pleaded not guilty when she appeared in court.

Her plea, however, goes contrary to a police report that she confessed to faking her kidnapping and pregnancy.

Her case has been adjourned to October 14, 2021.

But Mr Buckman said it is the court that would determine the actual confession of the suspect.

“If the confessions were final, my client would have been convicted and sentenced but it is the court that would determine the actual confession, and then we have to go through the mini-trial where the investigator will be made to stand in the box and will be cross-examined as to ascertain the veracity of the confession they claim the woman gave them,” he said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has commended the media for its role in the coordinated fight against the coronavirus pandemic across the continent.

“We have recently had a good example of how the media can be a force for good, and that was manifested in how we have been dealing with Covid-19,” he said.

Without a lively press that worked hand-in-hand to deliver not only the news about the outbreak of Covid-19 but also to communicate the strategies and public health messages that had been put in place around the continent, the President added that Ghana, and, indeed, Africa, would be telling a different story today.

“Journalists did and continue to do a yeoman’s job in the public education of the citizenry about Covid-19 and vaccination efforts across the continent.

“Journalists, in this instance, were, and are partners, to governments across the continent and, through this joint effort, have helped save the lives of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of African citizens. I pay homage to the efforts of journalists,” he added.

President Akufo-Addo said this Tuesday when he delivered the keynote address at the Africa Journalists Leadership Conference, organised by the Federation of African Journalists, at the Alisa Hotel, in Accra.

With the diversity and free flow of news and information being fundamental to the healthy workings of any democracy, the President thanked journalists in Africa “for keeping our governments accountable. It is the media, above all, that has encouraged our people to become more and more discerning, vocal, and questioning as a civic public”.

In addition to this, the President outlined three other matters of continental and national significance, for which he appealed for the committed partnership of governments and the media.

These, he said, are the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, the fight against Climate Change, including the preservation of the integrity of our environment and the sanctity of water bodies; and the fight against the illicit flow of funds from Africa.

“These are all menaces to the health, progress and stability of our nations and continent. We should stand shoulder to shoulder in ridding our continent and nations of them,” he added.

National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, says Nana Addo Dankŵa Akufo-Addo is a covenant keeping president.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s morning show, he said President Akufo-Addo is also performing miracles with most of his policy initiatives.

According to the politician, two and a half years of President Akufo-Addo’s governance is far better than eight years under a National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

NDC has ruled Ghana for about 27 years and what can they say for it. They said we don’t have policy credibility but by the grace of God the free senior high school policy is changing lives and making education accessible to all. Also, farmers are praising Nana Akufo-Addo because of the ‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ initiative,” he said.

“NDC left a mess, you will agree with me that five years of ‘dumsor’ destroyed everything, now electricity bills are lesser and more stable, also all the policies the NPP government has initiated have brought money into the pocket of Ghanaians,” he stated.

It is always sad when one loses a loved one but when the corpse cannot be found after all the necessary preparations have been done, then it becomes a double agony for family members.

That was exactly what happened to a family in Sunyani when the corpse of the late 56-year-old Solomon Kwabena Korang, (aka Degor) vanished from the Best Care Mortuary when they went for it for burial and funeral rites.

The entire family was thus thrown into shock with some of them going on air to express disappointment about the turn of events after they had spent a huge amount of money to prepare for the funeral and burial rites for Korang.

But after the body had been mistakenly collected by a different family from Chiraa near Sunyani and buried for 18 days, the mistake was detected, leading to the exhumation of Korang’s body on August 21, 2018.

The Director of morgue of the facility, Mr Boakye Danquah, explained after the mistake had been detected, that the two bodies have a striking resemblance and that officials on duty that day should have done further checks before releasing the body to the family from Chiraa for burial.

Poster Dead Man.pngAccording to him, due to the way bodies kept at the facility were treated, Korang’s body was intact three weeks after it had been buried when it was exhumed.

The body was sent back to the mortuary, while the family re-scheduled the date for its re-burial and funeral rites in Sunyani.

Re-burial and funeral rites

Last Friday, Korang’s body was re-laid in state at Area 2, Sunyani near Hon Yaw Brenya’s Street, for his second final funeral rites within a period of three weeks.

The body as it lay in state for the second time when The Mirror visited the family house, did not look like it had been exhumed, while family members wailed uncontrollably.

A spokesperson for the family, Mr Kusi Sakabo told The Mirror that “We are happy the body of our kinsman has finally been found”.

According to him, he went through an ordeal after the body got lost as some of the youth in the family accused him of conniving with officials of the mortuary to sell the body for GH¢20,000 for rituals.

He explained that in one instance, some of the youth attacked him by throwing stones during which a 36-year-old mason, Obeng Asiama-Kyeremeh, who was passing by was injured and rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

The late Korang, who was a farmer, left behind seven children.

A 37-year-old woman from Colombia recently shocked her entire country after managing to fake her pregnancy for nine months and then coming up with film-worthystory to explain the absence of a baby on her due date. And she did it all to keep her partner from leaving her.

Antonela Santiago Padilla and her partner Victor had known each other since they were 14 year old teenagers growing up in northern Barranquilla. Life split them apart for a long time, but many years later, Victor called to commemorate the memory of her brother, who had passed away.

She started writing to him in September of last year, and soon their relationship became stronger and closer. However, Antonela knew that he was involved in a romantic relationship with another woman and didn’t want to break them up.

Victor kept telling her that he and his partner weren’t getting along and that they were going to break up, so they started their own romantic relationship in December 2017. But Antonela wasn’t convinced that Victor had forgotten about his former girlfriend and it was this insecurity that made her create this elaborate farce that left everyone flabbergasted.

“It was all fake, yes, I invented everything and I did it out of love, for fear that I would lose the person I cared about, fear that he would stay with her, that’s why I did it and I take full responsibility,” Antonela today told Colombian newspaper El Heraldo.

So what exactly did this woman do? Well, consumed by her fear that Victor was going to leave her and harrased by his former partner who claimed that it was Antonela who split them up, she started devising a plan to keep her partner by her side. The mother of two – a boy, 13, and a 14-year-old daughter – knew that Victor didn’t have any children of his own, and thought that if she could at least offer him the illusion that she was going to give him a baby, it would make their relationship stronger.

“One day, in January, I told him I was pregnant and he innocently believed me,” Antonela told reporters.

The man’s reaction to the news that he was finally going to be a father was such a joyous one that Antonela claims it started affecting her psychologically. The happiness in his eyes, his voice when he called her ‘mommy’, they all distorted reality to the point where, even though she knew she had made up the pregnancy, she started experiencing bizarre symptoms.

“Honestly, everything was like a psychological pregnancy and when that happens, your belly gets bigger, you start to feel things that you shouldn’t, like when he called me ‘mommy’, I felt the baby move,” Antonela claims. “I felt nauseous, I wanted to vomit, I felt dizzy, I had cravings, sometimes I wanted to eat mojarra and I bought it, everything was psychological.”

This is where the story gets weird. According to some sources, Antonela deceived her partner and everyone else by wearing a cushion under her clothes and stuffing it with rags to make it seem like it was growing.

“She had a belly, it was small, but it never raised suspicions. My son lived with her, they slept together. But he never touched her belly or tried to bond with the baby,” Victor’s mother said. “We never suspected anything because although her belly was small, some pregnant women don’t have big bellies so we didn’t think anything was strange.”

However, Antonela recently said that she never used a cushion or anything else meant to enhance her belly. She claims that it would have been impossible to fool her partner for so long. After all, they slept in the same bed, and he often touched her belly.

But she does admit to fooling both Victor and their two families by making false doctor’s appointments and even producing fake evidence of her pregnancy, like an ultrasound downloaded from the internet.

“When I had doctor’s appointments, they were in fact medical checkups like cytology or general medicine, not pregnancy checkups,” the 37-year-old woman admitted. “Victor often told me that he was going with me, but I always had some excuse to prevent him from going, I told him not to worry, that I was going with my sister and stuff like that.”

Somehow, this fake pregnancy farce worked for the whole nine months, and friends and family had already prepared a baby shower to celebrate the birth of Mariangel, as Victor called the unborn girl. But as her due date approached, Antonela started devising a plan to explain why there was no baby.

On the morning of September 22, Antonela Santiago Padilla left her home to meet her sister and buy a cradle, diapers and other things for little Mariangel. Later that day, she was scheduled to give birth. Only she never made her appointment, and would later claim that she was kidnapped by masked men who shoved her in a car and cut out her baby for organ harvesting. After being released by her captors, she called Victor to come get her, and when he asked what had happened to the baby, she told him it had been taken by organ traffickers.

Despite her refusal to got to the hospital to have this “backstreet c-section” checked out, Victor took her to the Nino Jesus de Soledad, and also notified the police about the crime. An operation to catch the alleged child traffickers was set in motion, and staff at the hospital scrambled to help the poor mother.

Everyone started to doubt Antonela’s story, after a hospital evaluation showed that she had suffered no cuts consistent with a forced caesarean. A blood test showed no traces of sedatives in her body, but also no evidence that she had ever been pregnant in the first place.

“The woman went around showing an ultrasound scan that she had taken form the internet, she simply modified it and deceived her sentimental partner. But at the hospital she took a test which showed she had never been pregnant,” police commander Mariano Cotero Coy told Al Dia.

Antonela kept insisting that she had been pregnant and that gang members had kidnapped her and cut her baby out of her belly, even though the evidence against her was overwhelming. However, in the interview published today by El Heraldo, she admits that she made up the part about the baby being removed from her womb, but insists that she really was kidnapped by gang members on September 22, and had all her money stolen.

After talking to doctors and police, Victor begged Antonela to tell him the truth, and she couldn’t keep lying anymore.

“He begged me to tell him the truth, to tell him if it was true, and I wasn’t able to look him in the eyes, it hurt me to see him like that, ” the teary-eyed woman told El Heraldo. “When I got home, I told him everything. I told him what I did, I talked about my insecurity, my fears, my love, we cried together. He said to me ‘I feel mocked, like a clown, why did you play with my feelings ? If you were not pregnant, I was not going to leave you, because I love you.’”

Antonela admits that Victor feels hurt by what she did, and that he told her to give him some space to recover from the recent shock, but she claims that they are still together and talk daily. The woman is currently seeing a psychologist to deal with the aftermath of the farce she kept up for so long.

Faking pregnancies appears to be very popular these days. Only last month we wrote about a young girl who also managed to fool her boyfriend that she was pregnant for nine months, only to then tell him that the bay had died at birth.

Photo: Missing corpse exhumed, re-buried https://www.adomonline.com/photo-missing-corpse-exhumed-re-buried-2/ Fri, 14 Sep 2018 09:00:28 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=1332591 It is always sad when one loses a loved one but when the corpse cannot be found after all the necessary preparations have been done, then it becomes a double agony for family members.

The Best Care Mortuary facility has accepted the blame and has since apologised to the two families for the blunder.

A 29-year-old virgin named Lauren has discovered she is pregnant with her first child after going against her doctor and religious family’s advice and finding a sperm donor without having sex.

According to report, the mom-to-be, who is from a Manitoban community in Canada, is expecting the baby in June and feels the happy news will help her not have to deal with dating, something she doesn’t want to do.

Lauren said she considers herself happy being alone and she intends to remain a virgin for the rest of her life. She even confessed that she dislike kissing.

Despite the good news, however, Lauren also suffers from hypopituitarism which is a rare disorder that affects a person’s hormones and is something she has struggled with since she was younger.

“I WAS BORN WITH HYPOPITUITARISM, WHICH MEANS MY PITUITARY GLAND IS NOT FORMED PROPERLY. IT DOESN’T SEND THE RIGHT HORMONAL MESSAGES TO THE OTHER GLANDS IN THE BODY, LIKE THE ADRENALINE GLAND OR THE OVARIES.”

Lauren’s disorder made her to experience puberty a lot later in life and she was constantly teased for being different from her peers.

“I GOT TEASED FOR BEING FLAT CHESTED OR HAVING BUCK TEETH. KIDS WOULD LATCH ON TO ANYTHING THAT WAS DIFFERENT. A LOT OF THAT TEASING HAS GIVEN ME SOCIAL ANXIETY TO THIS DAY. MY LIFE STARTED IMPROVING WHEN I STARTED LOOKING LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.”

Although she has no plans to find someone in the future, she admitted to going on a couple of dates in the past but realized it’s not something she liked.

Although she had difficulties with her school days and dating life, Lauren said that getting pregnant was actually the hardest challenge she’s ever been through.

“THE HARDEST THING WAS PROBABLY GETTING PREGNANT. INITIALLY MY ENDOCRINOLOGIST SAID IT WON’T HAPPEN, THAT I’LL NEED TO GET AN EGG DONOR AND SPEND TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON IVF. I FELT REALLY SHUT DOWN.”

Her doctor still referred her to a clinic and after waiting for a year, she happily found out she was expecting. Lauren comes from a deeply religious family but she insists getting pregnant in this way had nothing to do with religion.

Two years ago, I was on my way to the hostel from lectures when this car pulled up in front of me.

In the car was a well-known politician who opted to lift me to where I was going.

Three weeks later, we started spiraled into us having sex. As we had one thing happened after the other, I just thought it would be a good idea to extort money from him. After all, these politicians were lavishing the everyday-Ghanaian’s taxes on big cars and big hotels.

But no! The highest this man would give me was GH₵ 200.00. But for him, I wouldn’t have known that some politicians were so stingy. I always thought they had so much money to spend on young girls like me.

Even with whatever he gave me, I had to go through a lot to get it but anytime he needed sex, he found his way to come look for me.

My Boyfriend’s birthday was fast approaching and I needed to buy a present for him.

This politician didn’t like protected sex. So it was easy for me to trap him with pregnancy.

A month after our last sex, I broke the news to him. He said he had a hospital he will take me to. I said no to him and he stopped talking to me.

One week later, I sent him a message to tell him that I needed GH₵ 2,000 to have an abortion.

He called to say he was going to give me a GH₵1,000 but I refused and he told me that was all he could afford.

I called to tell him that if he didn’t give me the money, I was going to expose him. Man got scared!

Evetually, though he didn’t give me what I wanted, he was able to give me GH₵1,500 and can you believe that a month after the supposed abortion, he called and requested to meet me. I kept on giving him excuses until he gave up.

And that was how I was able to do a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend with my fake pregnancy.

Mum's rent caused me to fake pregnancy https://www.adomonline.com/mums-rent-caused-fake-pregnancy/ https://www.adomonline.com/mums-rent-caused-fake-pregnancy/#comments Wed, 07 Mar 2018 16:22:13 +0000 http://35.232.176.128/ghana-news/?p=988441 I don’t know how I got trapped in this fake pregnancy thing.
I met this beautiful young-looking lady in Cape Town, far away in South Africa, when I was on holiday and visited the Table Mountain.
I noticed she wasn’t alone but with an elderly man who looked old enough to be her Dad. Not long, I heard her speak “Twi” to the man so I got to know she’ was a Ghanaian.
But the look on her face showed she wasn’t happy walking around with the man. Being a happy young boy who’s just enjoying at the expense of my employer, I took a step and said ‘hi’ to her.

We spent some few minutes trying to get to know each other and I asked of her lodging place.
Fortunately, at least so I thought, we happened to be lodging in the same hotel so I gave her my room number and went my way.
The next day she called to inform me that something came up so her Dad was going back to Ghana before their time of departure but she’ll stay to spend the rest of the days before leaving for Ghana.
I was so happy.

Fast forward, she got back to Ghana before me and later we linked up. Four months later, we saw ourselves dating but something kept telling me that the old man I saw wasn’t her Dad but her “sugar daddy” so I was scared to have sex with her.
One day, she went out after work and her landlady locked the gate so she asked to spend the night at my end. I later realized she just wanted to spend the night at my end.
Anyway, I picked her up and we came home. That’s her first time of coming to my place…. we sleep together in the same bed but nothing happened, all because I was still thinking about the old man she introduced to me as her Dad when we first met in South Africa.

I called her at dawn so I can get the thing clarified. After few minutes of our discussion, she came out clear that the man was her boyfriend who has been paying her fees in the University but she was in love with me so she was ready to let go of the man.

Well if that’s it, then why not? I was just coming out from a messy relationship full of quarrels and hatred for my tribe so why not try something new?
I was glad and finally accepted that I was moving on with her. Then somehow we had our first affair with my gloves on.
Later, it continued till one day when we had to do some “quickie”;  no time for the gloves and she assured me that she was safe so I shouldn’t pull out. Of course, I never did.
Two weeks later, she texted me, saying she wasn’t feeling well and that I should come around. After work I drove to her home only to be told she went out with the same old man.
God!

I returned home to sleep and returned the next morning to her place and she got mad that I refused to come and see her when she said wasn’t well.
I was quiet and looked on as she ranted after which I asked her about what was wrong with her upon which she handed over a brown envelope to me with one hospital name printed on it.
I gathered courage to open the envelope and guess what?
Mamavi, this girl said she was pregnant. Wow what good news that was; I got up, opened her fridge and saw some vodka. I opened the vodka and took a shot.
“Hey”, she shouted. “When did you start drinking, I know you don’t drink so why are you trying to hurt yourself”, she asked.
“Well, I’m not hurting myself; I’m celebrating the good news because it’s the first time I have heard someone saying she’s pregnant for me”, I replied.
I left and in the night, she texted me, saying she needed money to abort the pregnancy because she was not ready to be a mother.
Wow, abortion in this 21st century? Hell no! Not my baby. I called a friend who’s a female doctor and explained everything to her and told her that I was not ready to abort my first child.
ALSO READ: Reasons why too much sex is ‘bad’ for women
She called this girl and tried to talk her out of her abortion proposal but it looked like the more she talked to her, the more this girl was eager to abort the baby so one day I asked about how much she needed for the abortion?

She told me she needed GHS2000.00 so I went to the bank, cashed the money and called her to come for it.
Before I got home that evening, she was waiting for me.
Right in my car I gave her the money with these words: “In my family, we don’t abort our children because if you do, you either died through the abortion or you ended in barrenness”.
More so, if you know you’re not pregnant yet claim to be, I will still give you the money but I won’t tell you what will fellows.”
Mamavi, before I could finish my words, she burst into tears… begging me to forgive her because she wasn’t pregnant and that she needed money to pay her Mum’s rent but she didn’t know how to go about it so her friend gave her that advice.
I was shocked but later paid a 6-month rent for her mum and till date, I have refused to pick her calls.
I know it’s crazy and long but that’s how I managed to get away with this fake pregnancy thing…”

I don’t know how I got trapped in this fake pregnancy thing.

Women trapping men with pregnancy is real and I will like to caution my fellow men to be careful of the women they deal with.

But for her “witchcraft”, I should be married by now.

I was supposed to get married last year. Five months to the wedding, I attended a party with my friends.

I got drunk. We were all drunk and I got intimate with a girl I met at the party who ended up in my car.

Weeks later, this girl kept on worrying me with one demand or another.

Sometimes I wonder why girls are like that. I couldn’t meet all her demands and I needed to get her off my back because I was going to be another’s husband soon.

As a result, I started avoiding her.

Two months to my wedding, she called to tell me that she was carrying my baby, showing me a pregnancy test kit which read positive as prove.

She told me she was not going to abort it.

No amount of pleas would change her mind after I told her that my wedding was almost due and that the pregnancy could ruin everything.

After my attempts to persuade her failed, I asked her to keep it because after all, my inability to control myself led me into it so I had to face the consequences as a man.

I couldn’t keep it away from my soon-to-be wife. I discussed my plight with my friends and sisters who advised me to keep it away from her but I couldn’t.

What if she found out after the marriage ceremony, I asked myself? Even if she doesn’t, there was no way I could keep it away from her forever so I told her about it. She was heartbroken and got disappointed in me.

Unfortunately, she left me.

No amount of sorry would have her change her mind and her family sided with her. Even her pastor asked her to call the wedding off after she had discussed it with him. I regretted for telling her but somehow, I felt it was the right thing to do.

For days I begged her to come back so we get married but she wouldn’t agree. I told her calling off the wedding was going to be an embarrassment to our families, taken into consideration the preparations we had made towards it but no! She left me; she left.

For weeks I couldn’t bear the shame because I couldn’t openly tell people why we had to call of the wedding.

I went back to my one-night-stand girl and asked her to move in with my family so my Mum could take care of her but she refused!

I wasn’t going to marry her but I just needed to take care of her and my unborn child.

A month after she told me about the pregnancy, she was celebrating her 25th birthday and requested for an iPhone when I asked her about what she wanted for her birthday.

Two weeks after I bought the phone, she sent me a very long text message to tell me that she wasn’t pregnant and that she used the pregnancy to trap me into getting an iPhone for her on her birthday.

On the day I got the message, I wished the ground could open up and swallow me. Who was even going to believe that she wasn’t pregnant for me as she made me and my family believe.

That the pregnancy destroyed my life- time relationship with a woman I needed in my life was too much for me to take.

More so, that text message was the last time I heard from her. I went to her house and was told she had moved out.

I knew just one of her friends. She blocked me everywhere so I couldn’t reach her.

This experience taught me many things. Sometimes, some things are better left unsaid.

After the heart-wrenching revelation from her, I went back to my girlfriend to tell her about it only for her to tell me that she had found someone else.

If a girl tells you she’s pregnant for you, don’t believe the pregnancy test kit result she may show to you; it might be an internet photo or that of her friend.

Just hold her hand and take her to the hospital to crosscheck for yourself.
